Costa Cardonal is the culmination of a family's long-held desire to live in an unspoiled,
unique desert environment adjacent to one of the richest, most diverse marine environments
in the world - the Sea of Cortez.
We have been familiar with Punta Chivato and Playa Santa Ines (near the resort town of
Mulege, Baja California Sur) for many years. Recently, a change in Mexican law made
beachfront land available for purchase by non-Mexicans. When a large parcel of virtually
undisturbed desert land right on the beautiful shell-strewn beach became available, we jumped
at the chance to realize our dream of a small nature-friendly community of private homes
that would complement the beauty and serenity of the landscape.
Costa Cardonal is now ready to be shared with you. A great deal of thought has gone into
this project - because we will live here, too! Nature comes first - large areas of the
property have been set aside as open space. Residential density is low - there are only 14
lots, and each lot is approximately 1700 square meters in size (that's nearly 1/2 acre!).
Moreover, the equivalent of another 1/2 acre per home site is set aside within the community
for the use and enjoyment of residents.
An area for a community center has been set aside, and the homeowners are discussing what
uses they would like to make of it. Ideas include a shaded area for gatherings, a community
garden, natural plantings and walking paths, and small game courts, such as bocci ball. The
